podcasts

Hello everybody!!
Today I've discovered another useful tool the web provides: podcasts!
Well, I had heard this word before when listening to the radio -radio2!- but honestly it never crossed my mind to go and check how podcasts work...until today! I have been listening to conversations, interviews, english lessons online, stories and much more the whole morning...I enjoyed myself because discovered some really funny speeches or interesting news and therefore want to share what I found with u!
Hope u'll enjoy them!

www.china232.com

This website is really cool. Two guys talk about different subjects, just visit the main page, then click on lessons and you'll find interesting conversations about everyday life...such as phone conversations, confronting a problem with a friend, talking about a date, talking about important subjects like global warming, health...and much more...the website is really easy to understand, and plus it offers a list of key vocabulary and phrases which are discussed in the podcast...go have a look!

www.guardian.co.uk

This is the official website of the famous English newspaper, here u can find on the podcast format many articles on current topics, interviews, discussions and obviously news!
Listening to guardian's podcasts can be very interesting and useful both from the linguistic point of view - to improve our English, learn new words and do some listening exercise which is always good!-, and from the cultural point of view to keep up with the world's latest news!!

www.thebobandrobshow.com

As you can easily understand from the url of this website, here we deal with two "comedians", two guys - an English and an American- which discuss different subjects ranging from cultural aspects to food habits...well to use their own words this website contains a hodgepodge of podcasts which can sometimes be funny! I found it interesting to have two speakers coming from different countries -and continents!- in this way u can learn and appreciate two English accents and pronounciations!

Well that's all for now!
I hope u'll find those websites useful and see u soon!

Hi Valentina!
I like your post and I like the fact that you always use an image to introduct the topic you are going to discuss!I had never listened about podcasts before this activity but now I had a clear idea of what they are! I really like all your sites (mines are not so interesting) and, in particulaty, I find interesting the second one: www.china232.com. It is full of podcasts about normal life, natural speeches and common topics. I like the fact that there are also lists of vocabularies and phrases used in the oral text. I think they are essential to learn a language!
thank you very much!
Elisa
ps: thak you also for the advice about photos!!

Hello! What's up?
I agree with you...I think we all had fun while listening to podcasts: some of them are really funny. I appreciated the Rob and Bob show: their audio files are nice, even if you cannot use all the tools the site provides, unless you become a member. I particularly liked the china232 site. The texts are not spontaneous but I found the explanations at the end quite useful. You can learn some interesting new words and expressions. Thank you for the advice! Bye, Fred.

Hi Valentina!

I listened to podcasts you suggested and I like the last one the most. I like it because it's informative. You can really learn a lot and there is a wide range of various topics, so everyone can find something for himself. Like Fred said, it's a pity that you can't access all the files if you are not a registered user.

Oh, I have a suggestion regarding your post: You could facilitate the access to the pages you described by converting the urls into clickable links. I think the readers would be really grateful. Me included! ;)

Bye!

Hi Valentina!

How are you doing?

I already know two websites you mentioned because I chose china232.com for this e-tivity too, and I saved thebobandrobshow.com in my del.icio.us a week ago. It was a surprise to find out that we chose the same websites! Anyway, I’m happy you find those sites useful too.

I concentrated on the second site you chose. At the beginning I didn’t understand where the podcasts are. I advise you to change the url you wrote into ‘http://www.guardian.co.uk/podcasts/’ so it becomes easier to find the podcasts. I like this website because the podcasts deal with many different topics, such as politics, science, movies. You can choose whatever you want or you’re interested in. That’s great! I went to ‘Films Weekly’ section and I listened to the latest podcast. I really liked it because the speaker talked fluently and naturally, and the podcast contained an interview. This is a good way to practise listening and to learn conversational English!

I noticed you made some mistakes. You wrote ‘english’ instead of ‘English’, ‘go have a look’ instead of ‘go having a look/go and have a look’. Moreover, try not to divide the verb from the object, to avoid ‘u’ (It’s better if you use ‘you’), and to remember writing the subject (you started a clause with ‘because discovered’). I hope you’ll find my comment useful! Let me know.

See you!

Giovanna
